Acclaimed Chinese-American experimental electronic artist Lawrence Lui releases his debut album '8 Songs', a darkly cinematic 25 minute journey into grainy 70s soundtracks, lo-fi techno, space rock noise, slowcore lyricism and detuned IDM. Featuring Norwegian chanteuse Lucy 22 and mastered by Todd Rittmann of renowned Drag City bands US Maple and Dead Rider, 8 Songs is a haunted jukebox of retro-fantastic sounds spun into a modern context from one of the most adventurous and eclectic acts on the scene today.

One of the most unique electronic music artists working today, Lawrence Lui’s debut EP ‘Retroism’ garnered 5 million streams and support in tastemaker outlets like Magnet Magazine, The Wire Magazine, WFMU, Indie Shuffle, EDM Tunes, Nexus Radio, Big Shot Magazine and more. A remix by Anjunadeep’s Beckwith was released in 2018, followed by an ambitious second EP 'The Genius Of Time' which fused cosmic techno with Buddhist chanson and gonzo songcraft. After contracting Covid-19 in March 2020, Lui recorded ‘Isolation Loops’, an EP of lo-fi ambient music inspired by his personal experience of the pandemic.
